Loss of P53 , del(17p13)
TP53 (17p13.1) is a tumor suppressor gene that regulates cell division while maintaining the growth and division of cells at optimal levels and avoiding rapid or uncontrolled cell growth.
Loss of region 17p13.1 (TP53) is a recurrent deletion occuring in a number of leukemias, such as CLL and multiple myeloma (MM). Using a combination of FISH probes for the detection of lost TP53 (17p13.1), and loss of ATM (11q22.3), CLL patients with very high risk can be identified.
The loss of P53 , del(17p13), is associated with poor clinical outcome and therapy resistance.
