Breast/ovarian hereditary cancer is a complex and multifactorial disease caused by genetic and environmental factors. Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women (12.29%) throughout their life, becoming the most common tumor in women. On the other hand, ovarian cancer is the fifth most common tumor in women and it is estimated that 1 in 71 (1.4%) of women suffering from ovarian cancer during their lives. Currently, Breast/ovarian hereditary cancer can be explained by mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes.
