Lymphomas that originate from mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue, MALT lymphomas (Mucosa-Associated Lymphoid Tissue), represent 8% of all non-Hodgkin lymphomas. These lymphomas arise in various anatomical sites, and are composed of mature B cells lacking expression of CD5 and CD10. The different types of MALT lymphoma often present overlapping morphological characteristics, although, clinical behaviors are usually quite different.
